The project

This was a full strip-out and rebuild rather than a cosmetic refresh. The existing room was taken back to the substrate so the layout, the services and the waterproofing could all be addressed properly rather than worked around.

At £12,000 and two weeks on site, this was a compact room finished to a high specification. Holding the layout like-for-like keeps both the cost and the disruption down, without changing how the waterproofing and first fix are done — the budget goes into what you can see.

What was involved

Strip-out and disposal, first fix plumbing and electrics, waterproofing to wet areas, full tiling, sanitaryware and brassware installation, glazing, and decoration. Everything was commissioned and tested as it went in, and the room was snagged by us before handover.
